Delightful Printed Cotton Bodice Circa 1850's
A delightful bodice of cotton printed with sprays of blue flowers on a white background. It dates to the 1850's, pre Civil War, with earlier elements such as dropped shoulders and gathered fan front terminating in a "V" at the front waistline present. The long sleeves are slightly belled with asymmetrical double ruffles a the cuffs. Neckline, waistline and armscyes are piped with a back closure of tiny thread covered buttons. There is a period mend next to one of the buttons as shown in the photos. Back closure with hooks and eyes. The bodice is lined with simple white muslin with boning in the front. Condition is excellent with no stains, rips or holes. Displays beautifully!
