1941 The New American Etiquette

The New American Etiquette by Lily Haxworth Wallace was published by Books, Inc., NY in 1941. The pictorial orchid end papers are bright and beautiful and there are numerous black and white and color photographs and illustrations.

The book addresses subjects from greeting to weddings, letters to funerals, titles to military and everything in between. The photos are wonderful showing people in dress appropriate for every occasion as well as proper etiquette. I particularly enjoyed the woman proudly displaying her "forty pounds of luggage - the amount which may be carried in an airliner without extra charge", and I covet the linen closet as well as "what the well-dressed week-ender will wear from Friday afternoon until Monday morning."

Exterior clean with light wear to top and bottom of spine. Both front corners are bumped. Gilt on front is bright, the spine is slightly more faded. The interior is clean and solid with a crack in the binding just inside the front end papers.
