1925 French Beaded Flapper Dress
Beads and sequins have been applied to soft pink net or tulle in an art deco pattern on this gorgeous flapper dress dating to the mid 1920s. The dress is likely of French origin as were most flapper dresses of beaded net. The dropped waistline is accented with a band of purple silk that is repeated in large zig-zags around the skirt. The hand applied beading pattern is carried across the silk as well as down the back draping panels that are weighted at the bottom and are attached at the point of the "V" that is applied tot he center back from shoulders to just below the dropped waist.
Fully lined in oyster colored silk with a layer of purple tulle sandwiched between the attached slip and the beaded outer layer. The slip is edged with gold metallic lace that is again lined in purple tulle. Overall, the condition is excellent with no staining, rips or weakness of the fabrics. There is little bead or sequin loss with the only noticeable area being at about waist height at the apex of the back "V", shown clearly in last photo. This does not detract and could be reworked with beads and sequins taken from the seam allowances or other hidden areas.
A smashing dress in an unusual and ravishing color!
