1920s 30s Art Deco Gold Lamé Evening Gown

This amazing dress has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Made of a mauve and gold lamé in a swirling paisley pattern. The bodice is cut fairly straight and without closures, meant to slip on over the head. The skirt falls from the dropped waist and is tiered from the center front and back in panels that fall progressively longer to the sides of the dress. The panels are stitched down in layers across the hips giving an sculptural quality to the construction of the dress. The panels are tacked together at intervals but left open where they would have offered a quick glimpse of leg as one floated around a dance floor.

The dress is not lined but there are remnants of purple silk tulle attached to the skirt and stitched between the panels so apparently it was the lining of the skirt but has long since been removed.

The overall condition is excellent with no rips, holes, stains or odors. There is a bit of tarnish along the edge of the armscyes as shown but not stained. There are a few broken threads on the top of the left shoulder as shown, this should be tacked down to prevent further fraying. All in all wonderful, wearable dress!
